FAQs For Individuals

  • What will you fund?

ACT provides funding of up to £2,500 towards the cost of equipment that supports individuals to continue living in their own homes.  Examples of grants we will consider can be found on our Apply for a Grant Individuals page.
  • What don’t you fund?

Details of what we do not fund can be found at  Application Guidelines for Individuals.
  • What is the maximum amount of funding available?

The maximum grant to an individual is £2,500.
  • How long does it take to determine whether I will be awarded a grant or not?

We aim to make a decision on 95% of grant applications within 3 months of receipt.  If necessary we may contact you for any further information we require.
  • Will my annual income impact on your decision to award a grant?

In short, the answer is yes.  Our annual grant giving budget is dependent on the performance of our investment portfolio.  We do not fundraise publicly.  In any year we receive many more applications than we can fund.

For individuals we take guidance from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Minimum Income Standard.  Priority will be given to those on the lowest incomes with the greatest need.

  • Will you give me feedback if our application is unsuccessful?

No, we do not enter into any discussions with applicants that have been unsuccessful.
  • How often can I apply?

You can only apply once in a 12-month period.

  • Do you have any geographical restrictions for your funding in the UK?

There are no geographical restrictions for our funding.
  • I am an individual living overseas. Can I apply?

No. To apply for a grant you are required to be a permanent UK resident.
  • Will you come and visit me?

We do not routinely visit individuals applying for a grant but we do undertake audit visits from time to time to check that the grant was used for the purpose it was awarded.

  • How will I know that you have received my application?

Your application will receive a letter of acknowledgement within 10 working days of us receiving it at our office.
